1. Purpose and acceptance
These terms govern the use of the Wassa-wassa website and app, together called “the platform”. Creating an account, posting a listing, contacting a seller or placing an order means you accept them.
The platform introduces people to each other. The sale itself is a contract between the buyer and the seller, without us: we are neither the seller nor anyone's agent. The rules covering sales and paid services are set out in the terms of sale.
2. Who runs the platform
- Phone and WhatsApp: +237 6 78 83 43 30
The number above is the platform's only official channel, for calls and WhatsApp alike. Anyone writing to you in the name of Wassa-wassa from another number is impersonating us.
3. Your account
- An account is created with a Cameroonian phone number, confirmed by a six-digit code sent by SMS or WhatsApp. That number identifies the account.
- Nobody will ever ask you for that code — not us, not a buyer. Sharing it means handing over your account.
- You are answerable for what happens from your account until you tell us it has been lost.
- One account per person. Extra accounts created to dodge a suspension or inflate a reputation are closed.
- The platform is for adults. A minor may not open an account or sell here.
- Your profile details — display name, city, WhatsApp number — must be accurate: that is how the other party reaches you.
You can close your account at any time. How to do it, and what happens to your data, is set out in the privacy policy.
4. What you post
- A listing describes a good or service that genuinely exists, in its real condition, at its real price, in CFA francs, all taxes included. Delivery fees are stated separately.
- Photos must show the item being sold. Reusing a catalogue photo, a competitor's photo or another seller's photo is grounds for takedown.
- You confirm you have the right to sell what you post and to publish the images you upload.
- One item, one listing. Reposting the same item to occupy the feed is grounds for takedown.
- Your content stays yours. By posting it you allow us to display, resize and distribute your listing on the platform and in our promotional material, at no cost, for as long as the listing is online and for as long as our records require.
5. What is not allowed
Beyond what Cameroonian law already forbids, these have no place on the platform:
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their parts.
- Drugs, medicines and any pharmaceutical product, including supplements and devices sold outside authorised channels.
- Counterfeits, and copies presented as genuine.
- Protected species, ivory, scales, skins and anything sourced from poaching.
- Official documents: national ID cards, passports, licences, diplomas, certificates.
- Other people's personal data, contact files, number databases.
- Resold accounts, subscriptions and digital access.
- Stolen goods, or goods whose origin cannot be accounted for.
- Unauthorised financial services, guaranteed-return investments and chain-recruitment schemes.
- Paid job offers or paid training: no application, test or processing fee may be charged to a candidate.
- Sexual content, prostitution, and any content involving minors.
- Hate speech, threats and harassment, in a listing as in a message.
6. Reporting and moderation
Every listing and every shop carries a “Report” button. The reasons offered are deliberately a closed list, so that a report can actually be acted on:
- Fraudulent listing
- Banned item
- Misleading price or description
- Inappropriate content
- Duplicate
- Other
We do not read listings before they go online: the platform hosts content posted by its users. Our liability begins from the moment clearly unlawful content is reported to us and we fail to take it down promptly.
We may hide or remove a listing, withdraw a badge, suspend or close an account when these terms are broken. We give the reason, unless the law or someone's safety demands that we act at once. You can challenge a decision by writing to us — we answer.
7. Reviews and reputation
- A review covers a real transaction and nothing else. Reviews that are bought, traded or left by a friend are deleted.
- Reviews that are abusive, off-topic, or that expose personal data are removed.
- The “verified seller” badge means we checked an ID document or a trade register entry. It guarantees neither the quality of an item nor the outcome of a sale.
8. Wassa Points
- Points reward use of the platform: daily login streak, saving a favourite, sharing a listing, receiving a five-star review, a completed sale.
- They are credited by our servers and by nothing else, on events we can actually observe. A point obtained by gaming the system is cancelled.
- Points have no monetary value. They cannot be bought, resold, transferred between accounts or converted into money.
- They are spent on the platform, for instance on a mega-boost.
- The scale may change; points already credited stay yours. Points end with the account.
9. Paid services
Posting a listing, opening a shop and receiving orders are free, and we take no commission on sales. Two services are paid: visibility boosts and the Pro subscription. Their prices, activation and limits are set out in the terms of sale.
10. Availability
The platform is provided as it is, with the means of a young team. It may be interrupted for maintenance, by a failure, or by a network we do not control. We promise no number of visitors, no contact and no sale.
We may change screens, remove a feature or add one. Where a change removes something you have paid for, it does not apply to services already running.
11. Liability
- We are not a party to the sale. Whether the item exists, whether it matches its description, delivery, payment and after-sales are between seller and buyer.
- We do not systematically verify users' identity or the truth of listings.
- We answer for our own failings, excluding indirect loss: lost opportunity, lost earnings, commercial damage.
- Nothing here excludes liability the law does not allow to be excluded, in particular for gross negligence or harm to persons.
12. Our own property
The Wassa-wassa name, the logo, the interface copy, the layout and the platform's code belong to us. Copying, imitating or scraping them without written permission is not allowed. This plainly does not cover your listings, which remain yours.
13. Personal data
What we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and how to have your account deleted are set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
14. Changes and duration
These terms may be changed. The version in force is the one published on this page, with its update date. A substantive change is announced in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after that announcement means you accept it.
They apply for as long as you hold an account. After closure, only the clauses meant to survive do so: liability, ownership, governing law.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Cameroonian law, in particular Law No. 2010/021 on electronic commerce and Law No. 2010/012 on cybersecurity and cybercrime.
If something goes wrong, write to us first: most disagreements are settled in one exchange. Failing an amicable settlement, the dispute falls to the competent Cameroonian courts.
